**The Role**
Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees, and assists in development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all drawings, procedures, etc. Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance. Supervises qualified trades staff; monitoring job and budget performance for all shifts.
Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus to Foreman new hires. This position will be responsible for overseeing and providing mechanical maintenance service for the Powerhouse Plant operations throughout the yard and other O46 critical equipment and calibration. Responsible for mechanical maintenance on low- and high-pressure air compressors, low- and high-pressure steam boilers, river water plants, city water plants, demineralized water plants and O46 calibration. Strong communication skills with the responsibility of working with the Powerhouse operations foreman in the scheduling and servicing of critical equipment. Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work. Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all drawings, procedures, etc.
**Must Have**
Bachelor's Degree OR
Apprentice Certification OR
High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience OR
Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience
**Nice to Have**
+ Understanding of Facilities Maintenance Processes
+ Y-1078 lockout tagout qualified
+ Ability to read and understand drawings, technical specifications and equipment manuals
+ SAP Plant Maintenance Module experience
+ Basic Knowledge of Powerhouse Plant operations
+ Basic Knowledge of the calibration program
+ Make Up Supervisor Training
