**Job Summary**
As a Substation Engineer at PSEGLI's Asset Management & Engineering department, you will be part of the team responsible for performing the engineering, design, construction and project management assistance on large-scale electric substation projects.
**Job Responsibilities**
+ Provide technical support to operations, project management, planning, power, marketing/sales departments, and as well as external customers in support of the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) Transmission & Distribution system
+ Responsible to develop and issue design and construction drawings and material requisitions for Substation projects. This work includes design of new substations, modifications and expansion of existing substations, and replacement of existing substation equipment.
+ Review Transmission Independent Power Producers (HVDC, Statcoms, Synchronous generation, renewable energy, battery storage) interconnect drawings for compliance with LIPA transmission interconnection standards.
+ Review Distribution Interconnections Design for compliance with LIPA distribution interconnection standards.
+ System Emergencies - Develop temporary designs for the interconnection of mobile generation, mobile switchgear and mobile transformers.
+ Participate in project conceptualization meetings and pre-design field walk-downs to discuss specific projects with Engineering, Operating, Maintenance and Project Management Departments.
+ Meet and work with field forces to discuss and review proposed designs in the engineering and design phase and to resolve design issues during the construction phase of a project.
+ Work with internal and external organizations/customers to ensure prudent engineering solutions are undertaken to special engineering and construction projects.
+ Represent the Electric Engineering Department, LIPA, and PSEGLI at regulatory, community and industry meetings.

**Job Specific Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
+ Minimum of two (2) years of relevant engineering experience within the electric utility industry, including exposure to transmission and distribution systems.
+ Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including ANSI, IEEE, ASTM, NEC, NESC, and other regulations related to electric transmission system engineering, design, and operations.
+ Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and safety requirements.
+ Proficiency with AutoCAD or comparable computer-aided design (CAD) software.
+ Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information to diverse audiences.
