Job Title: Production LaborerJob DescriptionThis role operates molds, presses, and calendering equipment to produce high-quality parts and sheet materials according to precise specifications. You will follow written procedures, recognize deviations from standard practice, and work with minimal supervision in a collaborative team environment. The position combines hands-on mechanical work, careful measurement, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards within a manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities- Set up, operate, and monitor calendering equipment to produce sheet, roll, or layered materials to exact specifications.
- Routinely use molds and presses in the production process to produce first-article and regular production parts in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Operate press machines to create parts using molds according to established procedures.
- Clean and prime parts using appropriate chemicals and solutions as specified.
- Measure stock to ensure correct thickness and length using tape measures and precision measuring tools.
- Place a variety of materials by hand into molds, on mandrels, or in build fixtures as required by the job order.
- Monitor material flow to ensure uniformity, smoothness, and absence of defects during production.
- Inspect materials and parts using calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and other precision instruments.
- Weigh stock and scrap to be salvaged and record relevant data as required.
- Monitor individual production output to identify bad parts and detect defects early in the process.
- Use production equipment and tools, such as calipers and scales, on a regular basis to verify quality and consistency.
- Read and interpret production orders, blueprints, and material specifications to complete assignments correctly.
- Document production data, including thickness readings, lot numbers, and quality checks, in accordance with company and ISO standards.
- Ensure materials handling and related recordkeeping are completed accurately and on time.
- Collaborate with quality inspectors and production supervisors to resolve material or quality issues.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and roll changes to keep equipment in proper working condition.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and required personal protective equipment, at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, including setup and cleanup at the start and end of each shift.
- Work effectively with co-workers and contribute positively to a team-oriented production environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by production leadership, including leads, planners, supervisors, and module leadership.
Essential Skills- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds safely and repeatedly during the shift.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for production measurements.
- Proficiency using hand tools to fabricate parts in a production environment.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with production machinery.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure product quality and adherence to specifications.
- Hand dexterity for placing materials, operating tools, and handling small parts.
- Experience in a production line or manufacturing environment.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools including calipers, depth gauges, micrometers, and other measuring equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret production orders, blueprints, and material specifications.
- Ability to follow written procedures and recognize deviations from accepted practices.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and maintain positive working relationships.
- Commitment to following safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE use.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience operating press machines and calendering equipment in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with using molds, mandrels, and build fixtures in production processes.
- Experience with Swing Med Press or similar press equipment.
- Combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of specific education requirements.
- Experience working under ISO or similar quality management standards.
- Comfort working with chemicals, solvents, and industrial materials while following safety guidelines.
- Ability to complete accurate production documentation and materials handling records.
- Willingness to perform routine maintenance and cleaning on production equipment.
