**The Opportunity**
This role is based out of our Sandy, Utah office on a hybrid or remote schedule.
Ally's Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) team is a highly specialized group dedicated to positively impacting communities across our assessment area through CRA-qualifying loans, investments, and services. While compliance with the CRA is a regulatory requirement for all FDIC‑insured banks, Ally the CRA program is mission-driven and central to how we support affordable housing, community services, economic development, and neighborhood revitalization.
The Analyst - CRA Investments will support the ongoing management of Ally's CRA investment portfolio, which includes investments in small business investment companies (SBICs), community development venture capital (CDVC) funds, and affordable housing and preservation funds. This role provides hands-on exposure to CRA‑eligible investments, underwriting fundamentals, and portfolio monitoring within a collaborative team environment.
**The Work Itself**
The Analyst- CRA Investments will report to the Senior Director/Director - CRA Investments and provide analytical and administrative support across the CRA investment lifecycle, including the following responsibilities:
Investment Due Diligence and Underwriting Support
* Assist with due diligence on new Community Development (CD) equity investments by conducting background research, industry reviews, and financial analysis
* Support the preparation of internal investment memos, exhibits, and supporting materials for internal approval processes
* Help coordinate the collection and organization of diligence materials from external partners and internal stakeholders
* Support transaction closings through administrative and documentation assistance
Portfolio Management and Monitoring
* Assist in the review, organization, and tracking of fund reporting documents and CRA monitoring data
* Help maintain portfolio trackers, calendars, and documentation related to reporting, capital calls, and distributions
* Support analysis of ongoing CRA qualification requirements for existing investments
* Assist with processing capital calls and distributions and coordinating with internal partners on cash flow tracking
Process, Reporting, and Team Support
* Support the preparation of materials for internal meetings, CRA reporting, and governance activities
* Identify opportunities to improve documentation, tracking, and internal processes under the guidance of senior team members
* Maintain organized records and files to support audit, exam, and internal review readiness
* Participate in Ally Bank's community outreach programs, including volunteer activities, to support community development service hour requirements
Professional Development
* Build knowledge of CRA regulations, community development investment structures, and industry best practices
* Stay informed on general market and industry trends related to community development finance
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director/Director - CRA Investments or CRA Officer
**The Skills You Bring**
Minimum Qualifications
* 1+ years of experience
* High school Diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in business or related major
* 1-3+ years of banking, investment, risk, compliance, or CRA experience
* Strong sense of community and desire to be part of a giving-back culture
* Strong organizational skills and ability to follow through, and keen attention to detail
* Thorough investigative and problem-solving skills and meticulous record keeping skills
* Ability to work both independently and cooperatively on project teams
* Intermediate proficiency in Excel and other MS Office software
* SharePoint / MS Teams experience preferred
