Provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident as per care plan. Performs testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and to provide the care needed. Recognizes problems, recommends solutions and responds effectively to assist in an emergent situation. Ensures the health, comfort and safety of residents. Contributes to the assessment of residents and administers medications or treatments as ordered. Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed. Documents resident interactions and outcomes. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Ability to work effectively with professional and supportive personnel as a member of an interdisciplinary care team. Counsels residents, family members and/or resident advocate on prevention and treatment plans. Performs other related duties as assigned.
