Serve as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care. Use appropriate mobility, balance and strengthening exercises, incorporating into therapeutic activities. Includes using adaptive equipment, fall prevention, appropriate turning, positioning and repositioning techniques, basic range of motion exercises, and good body mechanics. Assist with training and implementation of special programs designed to improve resident's quality of life, ability to perform daily activities and maintain their highest functional level of independence. Obtain resident's report prior to providing care. Document resident's progress of care and behaviors, recognize and report changes in resident's condition promptly. Includes dressing/undressing programs, grooming, bathing, toileting, exercise/movement, and eating/swallowing programs. Demonstrate correct use and application of ice and paraffin baths, heat packets etc. according to state specific regulations. Use the EMR accurately. Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
