Demonstrates knowledge in all areas of care specific to Echocardiographic procedural areas, and conscious sedation.
Ability to perform a pre-procedure assessment on all patients and reassessment, as needed post-procedure.
Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain IV lines as determines by specialty.
Requires knowledge of medications and IV fluids and their correct administration, based on age of the patient and patient’s condition.
Provides patient with explanation and verbal reassurance consistently.
Formulates a teaching plan, based on identified patient learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching, as appropriate, from pre-procedure to discharge.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to supervisor, coworkers, and physicians.
Consults with other departments, as needed and appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
Maintain an environment that provides the patient and family with feelings of safety and security.
Meets current documentation standards and policies, and completes daily work shift
Requires knowledge and accurately interpret continuous EKG, cardiac monitoring and can identify dysrhythmias
Identifies physical symptoms and changes; takes appropriate action in a timely manner.
Maintain the procedure room, including patient preparation, positioning, draping, taking and recording vital signs.
Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique and practice.
Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly
Safely administers physician ordered medications.
