Job Title: Point of Care Lab Technician (Mobile/Laboratory Technologist)
Location: San Leandro, CA 94577
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Shift: Evenings (Monday–Friday)
Hours: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Pay Rate: $26.00 – $32.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and process patient specimens from phlebotomists and couriers
- Perform waived and point-of-care laboratory testing (Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Molecular as applicable)
- Operate and maintain mobile lab equipment and instruments
- Conduct quality control (QC) checks and ensure compliance with standards
- Enter patient demographics, orders, and test results into laboratory information systems
- Verify abnormal or critical results and escalate “rare and improbable” findings appropriately
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection as needed
- Maintain specimen integrity, documentation, and chain-of-custody requirements
- Monitor STAT turnaround times and ensure performance goals are met
- Assist with inventory management and supply tracking
- Perform routine troubleshooting and basic instrument maintenance
- Follow all safety protocols including biohazard and laboratory safety standards
- Maintain accurate records for QC, reagents, and test logs
Requirements:
- Must be LVN, MLT, or CLS (Required) — Phlebotomists will NOT be considered
- Valid California license or certification required per state regulations
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (required)
- Ability to safely operate a company van daily
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Familiarity with laboratory workflow and processes (required)
- Prior phlebotomy and lab testing experience preferred
- Ability to pass COVID-19 vaccination requirement or approved exemption
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, and repetitive motion tasks
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs regularly
- May require pushing/pulling equipment up to 50–100 lbs with assistance tools
- Exposure to biological materials and laboratory hazards (PPE provided and required)
- Must be able to safely perform duties in mobile and clinical environments
