SummaryUnder general supervision, performs a variety of custodial and repair tasks in the maintenance of buildings and facilities: performs other related work as required. This class differs from that of Laborer in that incumbents perform more difficult and more diverse maintenance tasks in addition to general labor duties.

Education and/or ExperienceHigh school graduate or equivalent and at least one year of general building repair and maintenance, or the equivalent of education and experience
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate with other employees.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCertification – Carpenter/Woodworking certificate desirable.
