Stony Brook University: Provost Office: School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences: Division of Marine Sciences **Salary Range or Pay Grade** commensurate with experience **Description** **Description of Duties:** The School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) at Stony Brook University invites applications for a full-time position focused on developing and teaching online and in person courses in marine conservation, geospatial sciences, marine ecology, and closely related topics. The successful candidate will teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as mentor master's students in the Marine Conservation and Policy program through their capstone/internship project. Course development will be carried out as part of the candidate's initial duties and in collaboration with SoMAS faculty and the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. Courses at the undergraduate level will support SoMAS' degree programs. Graduate courses will complement and expand the existing curriculum in our Marine Conservation and Policy Program. SoMAS is a multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary environment, with opportunities for collaborations within the School to advance its education, leadership, and outreach activities. **Special Notes:** This position has initial funding for a one year period. **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached CV):** PhD in marine conservation, marine planning, marine ecology, fisheries, oceanography or a related field in hand no later than December 2026. **Preferred Qualifications:** Experience teaching courses in marine conservation, geospatial science, or closely related topics. Experience with or potential for asynchronous online course and curriculum development. Experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students.
