Powell is a manufacturer of switchgear and other electrical equipment. We are currently hiring a Senior Fitter at our Southeast Houston manufacturing facility. As a Senior Structural Fitter, you will be required to perform the following tasks: Job Requirements Essential Responsibilities + Read and interpret structural drawings and blueprints. + Fit, layout, and assemble structural steel components including channels, I-beams, and plate. + Cut, grind, and prepare steel using torches, band saws, porta bands, grinders, and other fabrication tools. + Install and fit ¼" plate and other structural components to specifications. + Safely operate forklifts, jib cranes, man lifts, and other material handling equipment. + Perform accurate measurements and ensure work meets quality standards. + Maintain a clean and safe work area while following all company safety procedures. + Participate in weekly safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives. Minimum Qualifications + 3+ years of structural fitting experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings. + Experience using layout and measuring tools with precision. + Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team. + Successful completion of Powell's structural fitting and blueprint assessment. + Must pass a pre-employment drug screen. Physical Requirements + Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 30 pounds. + Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in an industrial manufacturing environment throughout the shift. + Ability to work overtime as business needs require.
