California Young World is a Title 5 Play-Based child development center proudly accredited through Quality Matters. We offer a distinguished infant/toddler, preschool & school age program that supports the healthy development of children from 6 weeks through 5th grade. The California Foundations and Frameworks, along with our Creative Curriculum, form the core that guides us in our stellar educational approach. We are open Monday - Friday, 6:30AM - 6:00PM, and have a capacity with Community Care Licensing for 328 glorious children between our 3 phenomenal sites. Excellent benefits package!

SUMMARY:

The Site Director (SD) is responsible for the day-to-day operations and daily supervision, training and evaluation of assigned staff of the California Young World (CYW) Fairwood center.

The SD helps coordinates parent engagement activities, and logistics for the yearly Health Assessment. The SD manages all Fairwood staff and supports the individual classroom teams. The SD is a liaison between state licensing and CYW, and is a member of the Leadership Team. Other tasks include assisting with the agency Annual Self-Evaluation with California Department of Education and Quality Matters. The SD is knowledgeable of, and consistently enforces The California Department of Education and California Department of Social Services mandates in line with Title 5, Title 22, & CYW Policies and Procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages the Care and Supervision of all Fairwood Center enrollment (175 children).
• Daily attendance is gathered according to the Enrollment Department Policy and Procedures.
• The SD Partners with the Enrollment Department Manager to maintain full capacity. (Certified and Non-certified).
• Markets the program, provides tours, recruits families and works with prospective families to support enrollment.
• Collaborates to plan and implement the summer program activities.
• Maintains all child licensing files. Updates immunization data annually and ongoing.
• Prepares and maintains records and files related to personnel.
• Meets monthly with the Program Director for Reflective Supervision.
• Attends monthly SS meetings to review enrollment and budget goals, and discuss ongoing coaching and mentoring of classroom personnel.
• Ensure environments are developmentally appropriate and in compliance with Title 22, H&S Code, and Title 5.
• Ensure a safe, healthy and welcoming environment by monitoring the site, classrooms and all activities and maintaining compliance with Community Care Licensing requirements, title 5 and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) meal service contract requirements; responds to Licensing citations and develops Correction Plans when applicable.
• Coordinate Universal Health screenings with the Health and Nutrition Coordinator; Vision, Hearing and Dental Screening with Healthier Kids Foundation.
• Facilitates the completion of ECERS, ITERS, SACERS to evaluate classroom organization, cleanliness and Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP).
• The SD supports Master Teachers integration of agency selected teaching models (PITC, The Teaching Pyramid, The Creative Curriculum & CDE Foundations/Framework, UDL and Trauma Informed Practices) to promote inclusive supportive environments for all children.
• Reviews and approves lesson plans weekly and guides staff on individualizing lessons to assure developmentally appropriate activities and compliance to curriculum standards.
• Observes effectiveness of classroom communication systems (email, meetings, parent memo’s, newsletters, KinderSign, Learning Genie, reflective practice etc.) for smooth operations.
• Ensures the completion of the DRDP System in each classroom to ensure adequate collection of anecdotal data exists for assessment of all children. Ensure DRDP process is completed for every child, two times a year including parent conferences.
• Provides oversight of the Learning Genie Portal to support parent engagement.
• The SD models effective parent communication to all staff, in order to ensure positive coaching and feedback occurs daily.
• Ensures classroom teams provide Positive Descriptive Acknowledgements (PDA’s) to all children to support Positive Behavior Supports (PBS).
• Ensures staff models PDA’s and integrates PBS into the daily program delivery for new employees. This will ensure newly hired staff deliver positive messages and scaffolding in their daily routines once placement at a CYW center occurs.
