**Job Summary**
The Director, Global Transportation & Logistics Strategy is a senior leadership role responsible for designing, executing, and continuously optimizing the company's worldwide transportation network and third-party logistics (3PL) ecosystem. This individual will serve as the enterprise authority on freight strategy, carrier relationships, modal optimization, and logistics partner governance across all geographies - including North America, EMEA, APAC, and Latin America.
The Director will partner closely with commercial, operations, finance, and trade compliance teams to ensure the logistics network supports business growth, delivers competitive service levels, and achieves year-over-year cost efficiency. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role that requires both strategic vision and the operational discipline to translate strategy into execution at scale.
**Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)**
+ **Global Transportation Strategy:** Define and execute a multi-year global strategy across all modes (ocean, air, road, rail, parcel). Optimize network design, carrier tiering, transit times, modal shifts, and carbon footprint reduction.
+ **3PL Partnership Management:** Oversee a global portfolio of 3PL partners (warehousing, fulfillment, last-mile). Lead RFPs, multi-year contract negotiations, onboarding, and rigorous KPI scorecard governance.
+ **Operational Excellence & Tech:** Champion digital enablement (TMS, visibility platforms, predictive analytics). Drive a continuous improvement culture using Lean / Six Sigma methodologies. Establish E2E shipment visibility and resilience/risk mitigation planning.
+ **Financial Management:** Manage a multi-million dollar global freight/logistics budget. Deliver annual cost reduction targets, build business cases for tech/infrastructure investments, and oversee freight audit/payment processes.
+ **Team & Cross-Functional Leadership:** Build and lead a high-performing global logistics team across multiple regions. Serve as SME for cross-functional initiatives (NPI, market expansion, M&A) and deliver data-driven executive reporting.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ **Experience:** 10+ years of progressive experience in global logistics, transportation, or supply chain, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing global carriers/3PLs across Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
+ **Expertise:** Deep commercial negotiation skills across all freight modes and proven ability to optimize large, complex budgets.
+ **Tools & Data:** Proficiency with TMS platforms, visibility tools, and logistics analytics for data-driven decision-making.
+ **Education:** Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
