Position Overview: As a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, you will play an integral role in supporting the speech and language therapy services provided to students. We are seeking dedicated individuals who are passionate about helping students improve their communication skills and succeed academically.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Speech Language Pathologists in conducting screenings and assessments to identify students with speech and language disorders.
- Implement therapy activities and exercises designed by the Speech Language Pathologist to address students' communication goals.
- Provide direct support to students during therapy sessions, ensuring their engagement and participation.
- Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to integrate speech and language goals into classroom activities and routines.
- Assist in maintaining accurate documentation and records of therapy sessions and student progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on students' progress and recommendations for home-based activities.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and stay current with best practices in speech and language therapy.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) program or related field
- Valid licensure or certification as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant in the state of Virginia
- Previous experience working with school-aged children in educational or clinical settings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
