Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Austin, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet the individual needs of students.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to support student success.
- Conduct assessments to identify students needs and monitor their progress.
- Provide direct instruction in small group and one-on-one settings.
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment.
- Utilize various teaching methods and techniques to engage students in learning.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and municate effectively with parents and guardians.
- Stay current with special education laws, policies, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in Special Education (EC-12).
- Proficiency in the development and implementation of IEPs.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
- Strong munication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs is preferred.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
- Texas Educator Certification in Special Education (EC-12).
- Additional certification in a subject area (e.g., Math, English Language Arts) may be required based on the teaching assignment.
- pletion of required Texas Education Agency (TEA) training and professional development.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
