Responsibilities:
- Assist the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in providing speech and language therapy services to students with communication disorders
- Implement individualized therapy plans and activities designed by the SLP to address students' speech, language, and communication goals
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students' speech and language development in the classroom and other educational settings
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in individual or small group settings, as directed by the SLP
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and interventions
- Assist in the preparation and organization of materials and resources for therapy sessions
- Participate in team meetings, professional development activities, and other school-based activities as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field
- Certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) in the state of Virginia
- Previous experience working with school-aged children preferred
- Knowledge of speech and language disorders and therapy techniques
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
