Overview:Stillwater School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Paraprofessional to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist teachers in providing a supportive and effective educational environment for students, including those with special needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist classroom teachers with instructional tasks, including preparing materials, supporting lesson plans, and reinforcing learning objectives.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students under the direction of the classroom teacher.
- Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans for students with special needs.
- Support students' social and emotional development and model positive behavior.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, and on field trips.
- Assist with classroom management and behavior management strategies.
- Perform clerical tasks such as copying, filing, and maintaining student records.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
- Participate in professional development and training sessions as required.
- municate effectively with teachers, students, and parents.
- Uphold school policies, procedures, and regulations.
Qualifications:- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree or higher preferred.
- New York State Teaching Assistant Certification Level I, II, or III.
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and munication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to work with children, including those with special needs.
- Basic puter skills and familiarity with educational software.
Requirements to Work in Schools in New York:- New York State Teaching Assistant Certification:
- Level I: Requires high school diploma and pletion of NYSED-approved coursework or training.
- Level II: Requires one year of experience as a Level I Teaching Assistant and pletion of additional coursework.
- Level III: Requires one year of experience as a Level II Teaching Assistant and pletion of an Associates Degree or 60 college credits.
- Fingerprint Clearance: Must plete a criminal background check and fingerprinting through the New York State Education Department.
- Child Abuse Identification and Reporting Training: pletion of a NYSED-approved training program.
- School Violence Prevention and Intervention Training: pletion of a NYSED-approved training program.
- DASA (Dignity for All Students Act) Training: pletion of a NYSED-approved training program focused on preventing harassment and bullying.
Working Conditions:- The position involves working in a classroom setting, requiring standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- May involve exposure to moderate noise levels.
- Must be able to manage the physical and emotional demands of working with young children and students with special needs.
