Responsibilities:
As a Tax Controversy Attorney, you will be responsible for:
1. Representing clients in tax controversies and disputes before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), state tax authorities, and federal and state courts.
2. Providing strategic advice on federal income tax, corporate and partnership tax, and other complex tax issues.
3. Preparing and presenting cases for tax court and handling all aspects of tax litigation.
4. Managing tax audits, appeals, and settlement negotiations with tax authorities.
5. Advising clients on the tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
6. Staying abreast of current tax laws, regulations, and rulings and advising clients accordingly.
7. Collaborating with other attorneys, CPAs, and tax professionals to develop comprehensive tax strategies for clients.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the role of Tax Controversy Attorney will possess the following qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and a license to practice law in the state.
2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is highly desirable.
3. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in tax controversy, including representation before the IRS, tax litigation, and tax court.
4. Solid understanding of federal income tax, corporate and partnership tax, audits, and appeals.
5. Proven track record of successfully managing tax controversies and disputes.
6. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
7. Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues in a clear and concise manner.
8. High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
