Role Overview: As a R&D Engineering Technician (SPS), you'll be at the heart of our hands-on operations, conducting Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) experiments and contributing to the development of advanced materials. This role is perfect for someone who relishes the opportunity to work closely with cutting-edge technologies and is eager to adapt to the ever-evolving landscape of materials development.

Please note this role is not a desk job and is VERY hands-on. You will be trained by our top engineers and will be focusing on becoming an expert in SPS technology and running experiments. This is a great opportunity to be at the forefront of next-generation material science breakthroughs.

Responsibilities:

• Working with and handling powder materials

• Setting up/extracting tooling for Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS)

• Performing SPS experiments

• Documenting lab experiments, recording observations, and applying scientific background to assist in R&D

• Post-sintering cleaning/preparation and measuring of samples.

• Conducting other supporting processes such as particle size analysis, micromilling, tumble milling, V-blending, and lapping.

• Keeping lab organized and assisting with equipment maintenance

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree minimum (Bachelor's degree preferred)

• Strong hands-on skills with a passion for experimental work

• Eagerness to learn and adapt to a dynamic work environment

• Background in engineering or science, particularly in materials, mechanical, manufacturing/industrial, or aerospace

• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability

• Ability to work independently in a small company environment

• Effective communication skills

• Ability to lift and safely handle 50 lbs.

• Willingness to work wearing a respirator mask

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with powder metallurgy or sintering

• 1+ year experience in lab/manufacturing setting preferred

• Proficiency in using measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers)

Please note: After a 3-month review, salary increases are expected based on performance.
