Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team in Edgewood, MN. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with a range of physical, sensory, and cognitive challenges. You will work collaboratively with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that enhance clients' functional abilities and improve their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough assessments of clients' physical, sensory, and cognitive abilities. Identify impairments and functional limitations that impact daily activities and overall well-being.
- Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, client goals, and evidence-based practices. Establish specific, measurable objectives for therapy.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Provide direct therapy services, including therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and activities designed to improve motor skills, sensory processing, and cognitive function.
- Client and Family Education: Educate clients and their families on adaptive strategies, use of assistive devices, and techniques to support daily living skills and promote independence at home.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physical therapists, speech therapists, and medical doctors, to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to client care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and therapy sessions. Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Professional Development: Engage in continuing education and stay informed about advancements in occupational therapy to provide the highest quality of care.
- Community Engagement: Participate in community outreach and educational activities to promote awareness of occupational therapy services and support local health initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Valid Minnesota state licensure as an Occupational Therapist (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
- Certification: Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a clinical, school, or rehabilitation setting is preferred.
- Skills: Strong diagnostic, therapeutic, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build rapport with clients and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Technology: Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant technology.
