Job Opportunity: Full-Time School Sign Language Interpreter (Contract)

Location: Cusseta, Georgia

Blazer Jobs is currently seeking an experienced Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time contract position in Cusseta, Georgia. We are looking for dedicated professionals who are fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and meet all local and state regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or Educational Interpreter in Georgia, ensuring compliance with all local and state regulations.
• Experience working with special education students and families in an educational setting is highly preferred.

Job Duties:

• Provide interpretation and transliteration services for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in various educational settings, including classrooms, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
• Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, teachers, administrators, and other school staff members.
• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, lectures, and other academic materials to ensure access to educational content for students who use sign language as their primary mode of communication.
• Assist with the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and other educational plans for students with hearing impairments.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff to promote the academic and social success of deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
• Provide support and advocacy for students with hearing impairments to ensure equal access to educational opportunities and resources.
• Maintain confidentiality of all interpreted communications and student information.
