Bella on the Bay, located in Excelsior, is currently hiring full-time and part-time hair stylists. Candidates for this position should feel at ease consulting with clients regarding hair styling options, explaining the advantages of different hair care products, and keeping up-to-date on the latest hair trends and styling techniques. The role also includes cutting and coloring hair using both basic and advanced techniques, providing advice to customers on styles and colors, and applying hair care products like treatments and masks.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and identify their preferences by asking pointed questions
- Recommend hairstyles and haircuts according to customers’ face shapes and tastes
- Wash, rinse, and dry clients’ hair using appropriate shampoos and conditioners (e.g. for oily hair or dry scalp)
- Apply a wide range of hair coloring techniques, like highlights, ombre and balayage
- Create hairstyles for formal events and everyday looks, including braids, ponytails and buns
- Apply hair treatment products, as needed (e.g. color protection creams and hydrating masks)
- Hair Extensions
- Form bonds with loyal customers and remember their hairstyle preferences
- Ensure the tidiness of beauty stations
- Cross-sell hair care products or services, when appropriate
Skills
- Proficiency in hair straightening and curling methods, using hot irons and curlers
- Experience in, Men’s and Women’s cuts, Coloring, Lightening, Formal Styles (updos)
- Familiarity with hair treatment products and services, like keratin smoothing
- Experience with hair extensions or desire to learn
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the latest trends, and treatments, and a love for educating guests about the health and wellness of their hair
- Good communication with clients and team members
- Attention to detail with clients, team, and salon needs
- Valid Minnesota Cosmetology License
