SolidWorks Designer/Draftsperson: Level I
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and modify 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks.
- Revise and update existing drawings as required.
- Read, interpret, and implement ISO, ANSI, and ASME standards, as well as customer-specific requirements.
- Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and company specifications.
- Be familiar with and participate in the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
- Assist in the development of design documentation and technical reports.
- Maintain organized records of design files and documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to develop design solutions.
- Assist other departments and perform additional tasks as instructed.
- Ensure documentation accuracy in collaboration with engineers and other team members.
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on improvements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, drafting, or a related field.
- Proven proficiency in SolidWorks as outlined in the Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) exam.
- Knowledgeable in creating both small and large assemblies.
- Working knowledge of configuration management principles.
- Computer proficient – MS Office Suite
- Familiarity with Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
- Broad knowledge of technology and ability to assess its implications on business strategy.
- Strong interest in product design and development.
- Commitment to company values and mission.
- Motivated team member who readily accepts and completes tasks in a timely manner.
- Technical capability required of a draftsperson in a manufacturing environment.
- Effective problem solving and analysis skills.
- Familiarity with iterative prototyping and design process.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to interpret & convey technical information clearly.
- Well-organized, strong communicator, and team centered focus.
- Friendly, proactive personal style.
- Must be drug and alcohol free.
Beneficial Skills:
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience with SolidWorks Routing.
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM or any other product data management software.
- Technical Writing skills, including creation of Work Instructions.
Physical Challenges:
- Must have ability to operate hardware and software supporting the drafting needs of the company
- Consistent sitting for many hours at one time (50%+ of normal shift)
- Occasional requirement to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
