Position Summary:
The Cybersecurity Analyst plays a critical role in providing expert guidance and subject matter expertise in system security assessments, reviews, and documentation. This role involves collaborating with developers, end users, and organizations to ensure compliance with Federally mandated security policies, such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and TIC, by coordinating with various security and architecture stakeholders. The analyst is responsible for addressing requests from the agency’s Enterprise Security Architecture lead and working with other security SMEs to complete tasks. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in evaluating cloud security architectures (e.g., Azure, AWS, SaaS) and be adept at quickly understanding VA’s operating environments as they transition to cloud-hosted infrastructures. Additionally, the Cybersecurity Analyst contributes to the development of policy documents, security artifacts, and architectural viewpoints, while identifying security requirements and potential gaps in implementation. This role requires both independent work and collaboration within a team, often under tight deadlines, to maintain robust security across VA’s cloud systems.
Required Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in a business or technical discipline required. 7 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
· 10 years of relevant experience
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive reviews and analyses of Enterprise and System architectures to ensure seamless integration and robust security.
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) and senior Federal stakeholders to design and implement secure, scalable integration strategies.
- Perform in-depth evaluations of security architectures, providing expert risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and threats.
- Identify and interpret all relevant security requirements, assessing systems for compliance and ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulations.
- Develop and implement streamlined processes for reviewing, approving, and refining security architectures across integrated systems.
- Identify and update policies and processes to accommodate emerging technologies and cloud hosting environments, such as TIC 3.0 and FedRAMP.
- Collaborate with compliance teams to maintain rigorous security standards throughout cloud adoption and system modernization initiatives.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to provide cutting-edge security expertise across the entire system development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
- Oversee the implementation of security measures during the modernization of legacy systems, ensuring seamless integration with new technologies.
- Assist in the development of comprehensive security artifacts, architectural documentation, and deliverables, offering clear and actionable guidance to diverse teams.
- Manage all tasks with a focus on efficiency, effectiveness, and professional excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
- VA or other Federal Government experience strongly preferred
- Background in Software Development
- Proven experience as a security analyst or similar role
- Familiarity with project management or Agile frameworks is a bonus
- Ability to critically review documents and architectures to analyze and provide enhancements
- Working knowledge of various cloud infrastructures (e.g. AWS, Azure)
- Experience with Architectural Frameworks (e.g. DoDAF) a strong plus
- Experience working in the Federal space
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to critically
- Willingness to learn and strong ability to research
- Strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- CISSP or other similar security certifications are strongly preferred but not required.
