Due to a recent promotion of a tenured, dynamic employee, a growing site in Lakewood, NJ is seeking their next Plant Manager who will continue to take the plant to the next level. As the Plant Manager, you will excel in leadership of your direct and indirect reports and will oversee the daily site operations. You will report to a Sr. Director and will have the following responsibilities:
- Fostering the importance of a safety oriented culture within the plant
- Coach, mentor and develop current direct and indirect reports to exceed their individual and company goals
- Oversee daily direction of production, continuous improvement, finance, EHS, materials and engineering
- Be the voice of the plant for all departments and shifts, offering regular communication and process updates via meetings and communication boards
- Integrate and coordinate site priorities and projects with corporate support functions, including Marketing, R&D, and Engineering
- Maximize efficiency by designing and implementing improved manufacturing strategies and allocating assets and resources to meet safety, quality, cost, delivery, volume and productivity goals
- Identify capacity utilization and production reliability issues, leading capital justification and prioritization communication requests
- Direct the Plant Controller in managing the site budget and reporting on plant cost operational performance
- Lead Continuous Improvement and Lean programs at the site to drive engagement and efficiency
- Benchmark, develop, implement, communicate and execute the plant's strategic plan
- Work with the engineering team on CapEx projects to complete in a timely manner and on budget
- Develop your leadership team and create a succession plan for current staff and any potential new hires
- Ensure that key performance indicators are in place, work on monitoring and improvement of the KPIs based on safety, quality, productivity and cost
- Verify supervision, training and inspections are conducted in compliance with mandated regulations
- Confirm compliance with all federal, state, local and corporate policies, laws and regulations
- Other duties as directed by management
The company is seeking a candidate that enjoys spending up to 25% of their day on the manufacturing floor. Candidates should be able to take ownership of their plant, lead by example, be comfortable being hands-on as needed, coach and mentor their staff and infuse energy and excitement into the daily operations of the plant. The qualified individual will be passionate about continuous improvement, establishing consistent processes and meeting KPIs based on data-driven information. REQUIREMENTS for the Plant Manager:
- A bachelor's degree is required, ideally in operations, engineering or supply chain
- At least 3-5 years of similar manufacturing operations management position
- Experience working in blending or formulation manufacturing environments (examples include pharma, chemical, coating, plastics, refinery, food, beverage, packaging, etc.)
- Experience overseeing multiple facets of manufacturing (production, maintenance, engineering, quality, etc.)
- Experience overseeing direct and indirect reports
- Experience working in regulated environments, such as FDA, BRC, etc.
- A proven track record of making measurable continuous improvements
- P&L experience
- ERP experience
- Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel
Skills preferred but NOT required:
- Formal Lean and/or Six Sigma training or certifications
- SAP experience
- Power BI experience
- Behavioral Based Safety Programs
- Master's degree or MBA
