My client is located 45 minutes southeast of Kansas City looking for a qualified Quality Engineer with Automotive experience.

PURPOSE OF JOB: This position is responsible for the continuous development of quality assurance systems including leading quality direction for existing and new product launches and documentation, statistical evaluation and control of the manufacturing processes and mentoring of successful customer and supplier relationships.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core Competency:
- Assess health of the business systems against customer and/or industry standards through an efficient and effective internal audit/corrective and preventative action management system.
- Be a leader and team player and develop relationships, both internally and externally, to achieve the necessary engagement, influence and customer connections (both internal and external) required.

- Demonstrated business acumen (financials, linkage of quality impact to financials, A3 thinking) required
- Must possess practical understanding of manufacturing processes in order to objectively and independently analyze problems, communicate effectively and facilitate problem solving activities.
Business Competency:
- Must possess production operation knowledge and experience relating to manufacturing, inspection, engineering and customer interaction.
- Ability to directly link, monitor and improve quality objectives with overall business objectives of the company,
- Ability to apply problem solving methodology to positively impact business objectives.
Job Competency:
- Strong experience and proficiency in understanding IATF 16949 and/or AS9100 along with knowledge in Statistical Tools and Techniques, APQP and Measurement System Analysis required.
- Lead PPAP documentation development and submittal along with launch activities related to new products. Strong background in AIAG Core Processes preferred.
- Develop product and process specific PFMEAs, Control Plans, Gage Instructions and related Process Instructions
- Strong experience in coordinating, developing and executing corrective / preventative /systemic action and process improvement activities using Six Sigma tools and terminology.
- Blueprint Reading/customer requirements flow down
- Customer interface and understanding/deployment of customer requirements
- Willingness to travel upon short notice <25% required
- Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) required
- Mentoring supplier relationships, where applicable, including evaluation and performance monitoring
- Lead and support continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives on shop floor
- Provide accurate and timely data to organization for decision making processes
- Participate in deployment of company quality objectives at local level
- Provide inspection and gage training as required
- Participate in design review process as plant representative
- Assist in supervisory capacity for hourly associates in Quality Department.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Communication:
- Communication and Presentation Skills required (written, verbal and non-verbal)
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to work with external and internal customers.
- Ability to read and react to verbal and non-verbal communication while maintaining a level of professionalism.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced statistical analysis skills including familiarity with Minitab or other similar statistical packages
- Four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Manufacturing discipline preferred. Other degrees and work experience considered.
- Five years of experience in a quality related field.
- Knowledge and practical application of quality tools including AIAG Core Concepts, DOE, 8-D, FMEA, Control Plans and continuous improvement techniques.
- Strong aptitude for mechanical applications.
- Previous work history may include experience in the ferrous and non-ferrous foundry industries and / or auto industry.
- Technical knowledge about permanent mold casting and other casting processes desirable.
- Understanding of non-destructive validation methodology (Visual, x-ray, penetrant, etc.) and NADCAP understanding (if required)
JOB SETTING:
- Inside work, general office conditions with extended time spent on the production floor.
- Working with other people in team environment to ensure the proper design, development and manufacture of aluminum components and assemblies.
