Orthopedic Operating Room Nurse Job Summary:
The Orthopedic Operating Room Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing orthopedic surgical procedures. The OR Nurse works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after surgical procedures
Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists with surgical procedures, including preparing and maintaining the sterile field
Administer medications and monitor patient response
Monitor patient vital signs and report any abnormalities to the surgical team
Assist with patient positioning and preparation of surgical site
Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and procedures
Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement patient care plans
Provide education and support to patients and families
Requirements & Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Current RN license in the state of practice
Bachelor's degree in Nursing
BLS and ACLS certification required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an operating room setting preferred
Experience in orthopedics preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Minimum of three years supervisory experience in Nursing and/or Clinical Management
Three years of recent experience in ASC Management and three years Nurse circulator experience
Experience in working with Physicians, patients and various clinical staff desirable
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Ability to lift and move patients and equipment
