Pulp & Paper Maintenance Manager Job Summary
We are seeking a Pulp & Paper Maintenance Manager to be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and reliability of all equipment and systems within the pulp and paper mill. This role involves managing a team of maintenance professionals, developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring that all equipment operates safely and efficiently. The Maintenance Manager will work closely with operations, engineering, and safety teams to support the continuous improvement of mill performance and reliability.

Company DescriptionWe are seeking a Pulp & Paper Maintenance Manager to be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and reliability of all equipment and systems within the pulp and paper mill. This role involves managing a team of maintenance professionals, developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring that all equipment operates safely and efficiently. The Maintenance Manager will work closely with operations, engineering, and safety teams to support the continuous improvement of mill performance and reliability.
Pulp & Paper Maintenance Manager Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
- Monitor and manage maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and adherence to financial targets.
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and other departments to plan and schedule maintenance activities, minimizing production disruptions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures and breakdowns, providing technical guidance and support to the maintenance team.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Analyze equipment performance data and maintenance metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain documentation for maintenance procedures, work orders, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.
- Mentor, train, and develop maintenance staff to enhance their technical skills and foster a culture of safety, quality, and reliability.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors to ensure timely delivery of services, parts, and materials.
- Bachelor’s degree in Paper Science, Mechanical Engineering or related journeyman’s experience preferred
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing maintenance leadership, including a history of increasingly responsible positions
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and vocational education (electrical or mechanical);or at least 5+ years of experience in “hands on” maintenance of machinery in production operations.
- Success building and leading teams, engaging a unionized workforce and empowering decision making in direct reports
- Competency with Microsoft Office including Excel
