JOB SUMMARY:
The Facilities Mechanical Engineer will take part in capital improvement projects, as well as continuous improvement efforts. This involvement is focused on machinery, buildings and support systems, and maintenance/production systems, but also extends to other operations of the Manufacturing Division. The Candidate will report to the VP Facilities Engineering and will work directly with a team of other Facilities Engineers.
The Facilities Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for project management functions, including scope development, budget creation, and scheduling and planning, as well as project engineering functions such as the creation of specifications, machinery and system layouts, the design of custom machine auxiliaries, and the project procurement process. They will work together with Electrical and Civil Engineers to optimize quality while keeping to project parameters. The Facilities Mechanical Engineer must be project oriented and able to work well in a team environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Capital improvement responsibilities:
o Plan and create drawings for machinery and systems installation based on production and maintenance requirements.
o Evaluate process machinery and production data to plan/design upgrades or retrofits
o Issue Purchase Orders, and track progress and delivery of purchased items and machinery
o Communicate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) during the design and fabrication of machinery.
o Select and provide supervision to contractors involved in mechanical installation, startup, and related trades.
o Develop plans and specifications for building support systems including cooling tower, chiller, evaporator, boiler, steam generator, nitrogen distribution, compressed air, and other fluid circuit upgrades/expansions. Evaluate and select suitable components.
o Work with building design firms to optimize HVAC, lighting, and fire-suppression systems during new builds and expansions
o Work with building design firms to incorporate considerations for machinery installation, MFG layouts, and logistics.
• Project management responsibilities:
o Define project objectives based on MFG needs and create project scopes.
o Develop specifications for machinery and materials required for project work.
o Create and maintain project budgets and schedules.
o Plan, execute, and document commissioning and startup procedures.
o Keep organized records and maintain data.
• Continuous improvement efforts:
o Assist plant level Engineers and Technicians with project development and execution.
o Participate in maintenance and production reviews and improvement initiatives.
o Participate in training and troubleshooting activity in the manufacturing facilities.
o Perform on-site surveys and update plant records, layouts, and PIDs as needed.
o Develop and maintain standards, specifications, and drawings which support manufacturing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of drafting standards and tolerances.
• Proficient in making AutoCAD 2D layouts.
• Experience with Solidworks 3D modeling and simulations.
• Experience with piping systems and ability to read and create PIDs
• Understanding of OSHA, ANSI, and other codes and standards governing industrial applications.
• Ability to create bid packages (scope of work, BOM, schedule, etc.) and work with outside vendors for RFQs.
• Possess practical troubleshooting skills pertaining to mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Organized record keeping skills.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
The candidate must have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and 3-5 years of working experience. They must also have formal training in drafting techniques and standards. The ideal candidate will have working experience in a manufacturing environment and with contractors. Experience in a construction environment is a plus.
