Position Summary of the Lead Data Analyst
We believe in liberating the innate greatness in people. The Lead Data Analyst transforms data into actionable insights to guide business decisions. This role involves working on diverse projects, including developing analytical models, writing code, and creating data visualizations to uncover opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. The Lead Data Analyst will collaborate closely with university stakeholders to grasp their needs and partner with the data engineering team to design effective data structures and deliver solutions.
Responsibilities of the Lead Data Analyst:
- Analyze and interpret data using statistical methods and provide regular reports on findings.
- Collaborate with university team members to understand business needs and processes, translate to technical requirements, and deliver meaningful and useful reporting solutions to address needs.
- Design and implement databases, data collection systems, and analytics strategies to enhance statistical efficiency and data quality.
- Source data from primary or secondary sources and maintain and update databases and data systems.
- Identify and analyze trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Use various software applications and reporting tools to present data in a clear and actionable format for end-users.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and oversee the design, development, and delivery of data solutions, while conducting data analysis as needed and communicating insights to collaborators to support strategic decision-making.
- Clean and validate data by reviewing reports, printouts, and performance indicators to identify and resolve code issues.
- Coach and develop Data Analysts on the team to ensure their technical growth and create a high-performing team environment.
- Collaborate with management to prioritize business and information needs.
- Identify and define opportunities for process improvements.
- Other special projects, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements of the Lead Data Analyst:
- Bachelor’s degree is required - preferably in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or other quantitative field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Data Analyst, Data Scientist, or similar role required.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
- A demonstrated ability to query and extract findings from large data sets in relational databases such as SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle, etc.
- Experience with advanced data visualization platforms such as PowerBI or Tableau.
- Experience in Higher Education preferred.
- Strong presentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to work in a virtual environment using multiple software technologies.
- Ability to sit for six to eight hours.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule at least 40 hours per week.
