IP Technician, Network Operations Center (NOC IP Support + Security)
Contract role with Contract-to-Hire anticipated. W2 only. Candidates must be eligible for full-time conversion without sponsorship as per client request. US Citizenship specified by client as a requirement
Location: Frisco, TX or Overland Park, KS - 100% ONSITE
Overview: My client is seeking a skilled IP Technician to join their Network Operations Center (NOC) IP Support team. This role involves providing expert support for complex telecommunications networks, including remote network surveillance, troubleshooting network outages, and working with various network elements such as Cisco routers, Checkpoint firewalls, and A10 load balancers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine remote surveillance and tier 1 maintenance activities for network nodes.
- Perform fault isolation tests and troubleshoot network and interface problems.
- Monitor network alarms, create and respond to work orders and trouble tickets.
- Escalate trouble tickets to third-party vendors and internal teams as needed.
- Provide support during large-scale outages and disaster recovery efforts.
- Mentor and train junior technicians on fault identification, isolation, and resolution.
- Participate in a rotating shift schedule, including the possibility of night shifts.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a technical role.
- Intermediate understanding of TCP/IP, data/traffic flow, and basic network topology.
- Familiarity with supporting higher-level traffic flows (e.g., HTTP, VOIP).
- Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers; Cisco and Checkpoint experience preferred.
- Basic scripting knowledge (Bash/Python) and competency with Linux/Unix servers.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CISSP are highly preferred.
Education:
- High School Diploma required.
- A Bachelor's degree or an Associate's degree with relevant experience may be considered.
Additional Information:
- This role operates in a 24/7 environment with shift work and quarterly rotation.
