Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced CT Technologist to join our radiology team in Laurel, Maryland. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images, and maintaining a focus on patient safety and care. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Care:

  • Prepare and position patients for CT scans, explaining procedures and answering questions to ensure patient understanding and comfort.
  • Administer contrast materials as required and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Provide compassionate care throughout the imaging process, maintaining patient privacy and dignity.

• Imaging Procedures:

  • Operate CT imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by radiologists.
  • Adjust technical parameters based on patient size, age, and the type of examination to ensure optimal image quality.
  • Ensure the correct use and routine maintenance of CT equipment, reporting any malfunctions or technical issues.

• Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including those related to radiation safety and patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures related to CT imaging and the use of contrast agents.

• Record Keeping:

  • Accurately document all procedures performed, including patient information, scan settings, and images.
  • Maintain patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining an organized and efficient workflow within the CT department.

• Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated patient care.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education opportunities.
  • Mentor and support junior staff and students as needed.

Qualifications:

• Education:

  • Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology.
  • Certification from an accredited Computed Tomography program is preferred but not required.

• Licensure/Certification:

  • Active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography.
  • ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT) is preferred but not required.
  • State licensure in Maryland or eligibility to obtain licensure in Maryland.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CT Technologist is required.
  • Experience in a clinical or hospital setting is highly desirable.

• Skills:

  • Proficient in operating CT imaging equipment and related technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

Working Conditions:

• Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with the movement or positioning of patients.
• May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays based on departmental needs.
