Our client, a well-respected California Healthcare Network, is seeking a highly motivated Program Specialist to join It's team. Under general supervision, the Program Specialist (Coordinator) will support compliance with cultural and linguistic (C&L) state and federal regulatory requirements. The incumbent will assist in the development and/or implementation of cultural and linguistic services/activities, such as: 1) coordinate internal and external translation services, interpreter services of non-English languages including American Sign Language and alternative format requests; 2) coordinate the vending of professional translation and review services in one or more of the organizations threshold languages; 3) plan and organize cultural competency training; and 4) research and analyze issues and make recommendations to enhance cultural and linguistic program and services.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- 85% - Program Support Participates in a mission driven culture of high-quality performance, with a member focus on customer service, consistency, dignity and accountability. Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short- and long-term goals/priorities for the department. Coordinates incoming language translation and/or reviews requests of member materials. Interacts directly with members and providers to coordinate and book face-to-face interpreter requests with contracted interpreting vendors. Coordinates the timely vending and completion of Alternative Format material, such as Braille, Audio and Large Print, with contracted vendors. Coordinates the vending of professional translation and review services in one or more threshold languages. Assists in completing and/or responding to regulatory agency reports (Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), etc.), surveys, audits and evaluations regarding the C&L program. Reviews, researches and responds to member grievances related to contracted vendor issues.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of experience in project coordination, translations or interpreting services required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above may also be qualifying.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a health care related field or cultural and linguistic studies.
- 2 years of experience in health maintenance organization (HMO), Medicare, Medi Cal/Medicaid and health services.
- 1 year of experience with a health plan or working with culturally diverse populations.
- Professional education in project management, translation, interpretation or cultural competency training.
- Experience in managed care and/or government programs.
- Bilingual in English and in one of the defined threshold languages (Arabic, Farsi, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Vietnamese).
