Japanese Video Game Publisher is seeking a skilled and experienced Localization Engineer to join the Localization Team. In this role, you will manage, customize, and optimize our localization workflow and tools to support our localization projects. You will work closely with localization manager, translators, editors, and development teams to ensure efficient and effective localization workflows.
Position: Localization Engineer
Industry: Japanese Video Game Publisher
Location: Santa Ana, CA / OC area
Pay: $55k-80K (DOE)
Status: Full time / Direct hire with full benefits
Job Duties:
- Manage and Maintain CAT Tools: Oversee the setup, configuration, and maintenance of CAT tools and translation management systems.
- Test and Deploy Applications: Develop and implement custom scripts, plugins, and workflows to enhance the functionality and efficiency of CAT tools and company workflow.
- Integration and Automation: Work on integrating CAT tools with external development teams to make text deliveries as efficient as possible.
- Data Management: Manage translation memories, termbases, and other linguistic assets to ensure translation consistency and accuracy.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the QA team to ensure the accuracy and quality of localized content through use of CAT tools.
- Training and Documentation: Conduct training sessions for team members on the use of CAT tools and create detailed documentation for reference.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for CAT tools and related software to the localization team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, Translation Studies, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working with CAT tools in a localization or translation environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using and configuring CAT tools such as MemoQ, SDL Trados Studio, Memsource, or similar. Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to resolving technical issues.
