SUMMARY:

• As a Tax Manager at TYS, LLP, you will play a crucial role in the management and oversight of our tax department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality tax services to our clients, and participate in the professional development of staff accountants. You will be an integral part of our team of professionals providing strategic tax planning, compliance, and consulting services. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in the management and supervision of the day-to-day operations of the tax department, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance and support to staff, and ensuring client expectations are met
• Participate in the professional development of staff, including onboarding, education, training, and coaching
• Conduct tax research and analysis to identify tax planning opportunities and potential risks for individuals and businesses
• Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws and regulations. Includes multistate returns, foreign reporting, special allocations, 1031 exchanges, lookback calculations, change in accounting methods, M&A transactions, etc.
• Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor and providing proactive tax advice and solutions
• New business development, which includes bringing on new clients and generating additional work from existing clients
• Lead the way with respect to changes in tax laws, regulations, and communicate implications to clients and team members
• Assist in the enhancement of firm processes, procedures, and best practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA license required
• Masters of Taxation (Preferred)
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in public accounting with a focus on tax compliance and planning; experience in a managerial or supervisory role required
• Experience managing remote teams and workers
• In-depth knowledge of federal, state, multistate, and local tax laws and regulations, with the ability to apply complex tax concepts to client situations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide innovative tax solutions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and other stakeholders (both locally and remote)
• Proven leadership ability, with a track record of managing and developing staff and self to achieve full potential
• Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite
