Defense Litigation Paralegal - Insurance Coverage Practice
HYBRID REMOTE POSITION (can become full-time remote once acclimated to the desk!!!
We are seeking an experienced litigation paralegal for a boutique civil litigation law firm located in downtown Austin, Texas. The firm handles state and federal trials and appeals around the state of Texas. The firm is an AV-rated and recommended by Best's Directory of Insurance Attorneys. This is a fast-paced litigation desk with a busy docket. Duties will include calendaring to ensure all deadlines are met and appearances are attended. You will assist with coverage advice on a wide variety of insurance policies. Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery responses for commercial litigated matters. You will handle federal and state matters such as removal actions by preparing all required documents for federal and state court, including e-filing through Pacer.
In addition, you will work on client matters from inception through trial and settlement, assist with discovery, case research, e-filing, calendaring, travel arrangements, electronic & hard file maintenance, legal documents, editing & proofing documents, legal billing and timekeeping. etc... Paralegals do not really go to trial with the attorneys but do help with all preparation up to trial.
- Litigation paralegal with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Must have knowledge of federal, State and local filing procedures, process case files for depositions, pretrial hearings and trials, prepare discovery, calendar appointments, meetings etc, disburse, log, calendar mail, work with vendors and clients calls and work as a team player.
- Microsoft Office, Westlaw, Amicus (calendar and timekeeping software equivalent), Excel desired.
- Westlaw
- Paralegal: 3+ years litigation experience needed.
- 40 hours weekly Monday to Friday.
Software Used:
Amicus for time keeping & billing; MS Office 2010 (Word, Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint).

- Ability to work remote once management and attorneys feel you have acclimated to the firm or option to work in the office if preferred.

- (both sick and vacation are annual, given the full amount each January. It is a use it or lose it plan, it does not roll over)
- 8 – 10 days of paid holidays (depending on where the holidays fall on the calendar)
