Overview: Morven City Schools is actively seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with special needs by developing individualized learning plans, providing specialized instruction, and fostering a collaborative environment among students, teachers, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student.
• Deliver specialized instruction in various settings, including inclusive classrooms, resource rooms, and self-contained classrooms.
• Adapt and modify curriculum materials and teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Conduct assessments to track student progress and adjust instructional methods as necessary.
• Work collaboratively with general education teachers, school administrators, and special education staff to support student inclusion and success.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
• Maintain detailed and confidential records of student performance, IEPs, and other necessary documentation.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about best practices and advancements in special education.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Valid Georgia teaching certificate in Special Education (P-12) [T-4] or higher.
• Experience working with students with a range of disabilities, including learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, and developmental delays.
• Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to continuous professional growth and development.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Additional certifications or endorsements in specialized areas such as Autism or Behavior Intervention.
• Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.

Licensure and Certification Requirements:

• Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) certification in Special Education General Curriculum (P-12) or a related field.
• Successful completion of the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) exams for Special Education.
• Completion of a state-approved educator preparation program.
• Clear background check and fingerprinting as required by Morven City Schools.
