Makes decisions regarding urgency of needs, and triages emergent care situations to the appropriate care provider. One to two years experience in direct nursing care preferred. Experience with patients of all ages, ambulatory care and telephone triage preferred. Computer literacy essential. New York State licensed RN. Current American Heart Association CPR and AED certification (BLS for Healthcare Providers). Knowledge of age-specific medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies, and functions. Understanding of documentation standards. Knowledge of equipment, supplies and materials needed for medical treatment. Understanding of basic laboratory procedures including preparation and screening. Knowledge of infection prevention, infectious disease management and control and safety standards. Ability to use multi-line phone system, including transferring calls and paging. Skill in reading and following written and oral medical orders. Skill in initiating appropriate emergency procedures.
