The Physical Therapist Assistant will help Physical Therapists provide physical therapy treatments and procedures. Individuals in this role may, in accordance with state laws, assist in the development of treatment plans, carry out routine functions, document the progress of treatment, and modify specific treatments in accordance with patient status and within the scope of treatment plans established by a Physical Therapist.

Experience, and Certification/License Requirements:
Graduation from a Physical Therapist Assistant education program accredited by Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) is required. Must be credentialed the Indiana Physical Therapy Committee and licensed by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Two to four years’ of prior experience in a Physical Therapist Assistant role is preferred. Must maintain current BLS certification.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Working environment is in a clinical environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Work requires standing for long periods of time and excessive walking. Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting/assisting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires regular to frequent levels of bending/stooping, crawling, climbing, kneeling, pushing/pulling, and squatting. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing must be in normal range for telephone contacts and to interact directly with patients. Regularly interacts with staff, physicians, business associates, and the public, which may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
