Role: Tax Manager
Location: Chicago/Rosemont border
Our client is a mid-sized CPA firm, and they specialize in providing comprehensive tax services to a diverse client base.
As a Tax Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the tax department's operations, and ensuring the efficient and accurate delivery of tax planning, compliance, and consulting services.
Client Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and providing expert tax advice.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
Tax Compliance:
- Oversee the preparation and review of complex individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Tax Planning and Consulting:
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize clients' tax liabilities.
- Provide proactive tax advice to clients based on changing tax laws and regulations.
Research and Analysis:
- Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on clients.
- Conduct research on various tax issues and provide recommendations.
Financial Statement Review:
- Review financial statements for tax implications and accuracy.
- Collaborate with the audit department to ensure seamless coordination between tax and audit functions.
Client Education:
- Educate clients on tax planning opportunities and potential risks.
- Communicate complex tax concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
Quality Control:
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of tax workpapers and filings.
Collaboration with Other Departments:
- Work closely with other departments, such as audit and advisory, to provide integrated services to clients.
- Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic initiatives and business development activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax, with a focus on public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficient in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
