Position Summary

This position is responsible for making and preparing the meals for the Health Center and Assisted Living by following instructions while adhering to all safety and health standards. The dietary cook also helps the dietary aides serve the meals and clean the kitchen. The dietary cook is a direct supervisor to the dietary aides when the Dietary Manager and Assistant Dietary Manager are not in the facility as well. At the Wolf Creek Campus, we offer full-time Dietary Cook positions. These positions are 1st shift from 5am-1pm and 2nd shift from 11am-7pm.

Benefits

Sign-on bonus in the amount of $750.00 paid through the 1st year of employment and shift pick-up pay of $5.00/hour.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review menus in preparation for meal services.
• Prepare food in accordance with applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and our established policies and procedures.
• Responsible for the efficient and accurate delivery of food to residents.
• Assists in the distributing of resident meals during dining experience.
• Processes diet changes and new diets as received from nursing services.
• Complete necessary forms, reports, etc in order to ensure smooth operations of the dietary department.
• Works closely with the dietician in order to implement necessary changes to the resident dining experience.
• Addresses resident concerns in a professional manner and reports those concerns to the Dietary Manager or Assistant Dietary Manager.
• Provides guidance and direction to the Dietary Aides.
• Stock ingredients and monitor inventory.
• Help maintain kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Responsible for assigned cleaning duties.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines.
• Skilled in preparing and serving meals according to instructions.
• Knowledge of operating cookware, bakeware, and cooking appliances.
• Prior experience working in a long-term care setting with a high-volume food production setting preferred.
• Serve Safe Certification strongly recommended.
• Interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
