Job Title: Portfolio Analyst
Reports To: Loan Servicing Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Starting/Hiring Wage: $43,920 - $54,900 annually
Full Wage Range: $43,920 - $65,880 annually - Midpoint and above is reserved for employees who have longevity with Northwest Business Development and consistently exhibit outstanding performance over a period of time in the role.
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for monitoring of the loan servicing and collection/liquidation functions of NWBDA.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:
- General loan servicing/collection procedures to include commercial credit underwriting/documentation.
- Monitoring and timely collection of delinquent loan payments
- Extensive servicing for problem loans with specific emphasis on Third Party Lender
- Assist Portfolio Manager with preparation of SBA liquidation submissions to SBA and District Counsel
- Perform annual, or more frequent if appropriate, financial review and assign appropriate loan grades using current financial statements or using an alternative methodology in the absence of financial statements;
- Uses critical thinking to effectively discern information and formulate an appropriate action plan to mitigating credit and industry risks;
- Proactively seeks out information from borrowers, third-party lenders or other sources to ascertain the credit risk associated with a loan. This credit risk pertains to the compliance of the borrower with the SBA Authorization as well as the financial performance of the company;
- Assesses financial performance based on current financial and provides a synopsis of levels, trends and comparison to industry cohort statistics reflecting the balance sheet and income statement reflecting the ability to the borrower to service the current debt structure;
- When appropriate, recommends changes in monitoring regimen or status of borrowers;
- When appropriate, recommends servicing actions to generate remediation of troubled credits.
- Thorough documentation of files and preparation of reports as required; including but not limited to delinquency, liquidation, workout, problem and watch loan reporting;
- May assist with servicing requests such as assumptions, subordination requests, and collateral or guarantor releases;
- Performing general secretarial and clerical duties, including typing, copying, scanning, and filing loan documentation, correspondence, memos, letters, etc.; and
- Assisting any and all departments with various tasks relating to each stage of the loan process or operations as needs arise.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make recommendations to NWBDA Portfolio Manager for procedural changes to promote efficiencies within the company.
- Attempt to attend all meetings where your presence is requested by management.
- Attempt to attend all training classes/webinars provided by NWBDA that will benefit your current or future positions with NWBDA.
- Assist with other requests or duties as requested by management.
- Comply with all Northwest Business Development Association’s policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or related field, or equivalent on-the-job training.
- Two years previous lending experience in areas of Credit Analysis, Special Assets and Liquidation, Loan Documentation, Prudent Lending, SBA Standard Operating Procedures, Loan Regulation Compliance.

Other Skills & Abilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Experience with financial spread software and SBA 504 Software Ventures+ is desirable. Ability to acclimate quickly to other programs.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to create comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present complex information succinctly and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to create, interpret and explain spreadsheet analysis.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with complex problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position is sedentary and requires the following physical activities:
- Sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing and visual acuity.
- Frequent lifting (up to 25 pounds of paper supplies or minor office equipment).
GENERAL BENEFIT DESCRIPTION:

- Full time employees will also accrue vacation at the rate of 3.08 hrs/pay period for a maximum of 10 days in the first year of employment.
- Full time employees receive 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year in addition to a number of 1/2 days the day before some major holidays.
- Upon successful performance of both the employee and the company there is potential for an annual bonus. **This position is not eligible for per-file bonus/commissions.
