Job Description
Under indirect supervision of the department manager; performs detailed or routine manufacturing engineering assignments involving processes and methods, tooling and machine designs, cost estimates, and /or resolving engineering problems involved in the manufacturing of products.
Duties & Responsibilities
May specialize in a specific area of manufacturing or a product line such as tool design, equipment design, cost estimating, and programming computer-assisted machines. Analyze time studies, manufacturing operation, and cost of new equipment, working toward problem solving, simplification, improved production capability or quality control, non-compliance. management, reduced cost and improved methods and standards. Recommend and complete required documentation for the acquisition of equipment, tools, materials and/or services. Evaluate and recommend modifications to equipment, design, tooling, manufacturing processes, methods, etc. Develop and apply computer software programs for project applications and maintain Management Information System for backlog and scheduling reporting purposes. Investigate manufacturing difficulties and initiate remedial corrective action. Act as a liaison between various internal personnel regarding material, tooling, equipment, components, price, delivery, production rate data, NC programming, etc. Confer with vendors and suppliers in regard to tooling availability, information, quotes, delivery dates, completion of projects, and new products and designs. Determine manufacturing costs based on labor rates, costs of material, machine hourly rates, J.C.I. burden rates, etc. Train and advise new employees in current methods and procedures.
The Individual
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
Professional certification preferred.
Minimum two years’ work experience in manufacturing engineering.
Minimum one year NC programming experience and one year computer assisted equipment experience.
Strong attention to detail.
High level of analytical ability and the ability to work in a diverse environment.
