JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Behavior Specialist (Exempt)
PRIMARY LOCATION: Based in main office; travels to homes, workplaces and day programs as needed

PRIMARY SCHEDULE: Generally, Monday thru Friday 9a-5p; Flexibility required - some evening and weekend hours based on needs of the individuals; emergencies
REPORTS TO: Director of IDD Services
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree or higher in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Applied Behavioral Analysis or Gerontology OR a Pennsylvania Behavior Specialist License
· Prior to or upon hire: Training in conducting and using a functional behavioral assessment and training in positive behavioral support (ie: Devereaux Safe and Positive Approaches and Safety Techniques)
· Excellent communication skills (oral and written); working knowledge of the ISP process, ODP incident management, and HCSIS/EIM.
· Valid Driver’s License
· Act 34 clearance & FBI clearance
· Physical w/ Mantoux prior to date of hire
JOB DESCRIPTION:
· Ability to work as a team member and agree to supervision by Director of IDD Services
· Willingness to carry out the mission and support the values of the Emmaus Community
· Provide specialized interventions that assist participants to increase adaptive behaviors to replace or modify challenging behaviors
· Design and implement behavioral support services to address the support detailed in the ISP and in accordance with Dept. of Human Services requirements
· Understand and use a variety of approaches & techniques including Everyday Lives, Charting the LifeCourse, Applied Behavior Analysis methods, Person-Centered Planning, principles of Trauma Informed approaches and Positive Behavioral Support
· Complete a Functional Behavioral Assessment and develop a comprehensive behavioral support plan within 60 days of the team identifying a need for an individual
· Promote consistent implementation of the Behavioral Support Plan (BSP) including Crisis Intervention Plans (CIP), Social Emotional and Environmental Plan (SEEP) and restrictive plans (if warranted), across environments
· Ensure all documentation is complete and data is collected and utilized
· Know and enforce the rules and regulations regarding restrictive procedures and physical restraints (55 pa. Code 6100.348 & 6100.349), individual rights, and human rights teams
· Participates as a member of the Quality Management Team / related committees
· Ensure that all behavior support provided includes positive practices & least restrictive interventions
· Collaborate with other members of the treatment team, assessing, designing, and directing the implementation of a support plan that uses a person-centered approach for individuals
· Engage in ongoing sessions with the individual to increase adaptive skill and analyze data
· Provide educational training and support services to individuals, families and staff as needed
· Facilitate access to community resources for clients, families and staff as appropriate
· Research and engage outside vendors and related services; act as liaison between them and Emmaus
· Serve as a communication resource to families and guardians
· Complete service notes and compliant billing documentation
