Position Summary:
The Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for managing payroll processing and accounts payable functions. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and an understanding of accounting principles and payroll requirements specific to the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Process weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Manage accounts payable functions, including invoice processing and payment disbursement.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
Ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws and certified payroll requirements.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost allocation and budget tracking.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.
Prepare and submit monthly union reports for 4 unions.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll and accounts payable, preferably in the construction industry.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll regulations.
Proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software and ADP payroll system.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
