The purpose of the Quality Assurance Technician is to support the plant quality programs and regulatory programs for cosmetic hair care products. Primary responsibility includes working closely with production and manufacturing technicians to maintain the highest quality for our products and to ensure products are within applicable specification and standards. Responsible for regulatory affairs including audit reports, regulatory reporting and overall enforcement.
Essential Duties:
· Perform QC testing on raw materials and finished products (including but not limited to pH, viscosity, titrations, specific gravity, % solids, micro and fill weight determination)
· Perform process and/or final finished product inspections daily.
· Lead the Quality Department with input from Plant manager and Sr Director of operations
· Releasing Compound Batches
· Print Batch Ticket in Formulator™ Software
· Enter Batch Records in Formulator
· Perform in process and/or final finished product inspections daily.
· Perform necessary documentation for all deviations or rejections of non-conforming materials.
· Liaise with contract laboratories for product challenge testing and safety testing
· Communicate with contract manufacturers regarding components
· Perform daily analysis of electronic quality related data.
· Publish periodic reports on plant quality performance.
· Assist R & D with compounding batch adjustments
· Perform First Article Check
· Complete All Retains
· Create FPS
· Owner of Quality Hold area
· Order and receive quality related materials from vendors.
· Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
· Weigh materials, products, containers, or samples to verify packaging weights and ingredient quantities.
· Manage and perform calibrations of test equipment.
· Complete and maintain the documentation and reports pertaining to manufactured batches and lab prototypes
· Provide support Preparing the Ingredient listings for new and reformulated products
· Review artwork labels for accuracy
· Assist R&D and Production staff with other tasks as needed
· Assist with prepare dossiers and documentation for CAN/EU per international regulations
· Assist with complete WERCSmart product registrations
· Assist with making adjustment for batches not meeting specifications
· Complete other routine and unique tasks and projects as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to tolerate sustained standing/walking up to 10 hours a day.
· Ability to perform occasional to frequent lifting of up to 30 lbs.
· Ability to utilize good eye-hand coordination.
· Ability to perform occasional bending and squatting.
