Job Description: We are seeking a Jr Naval Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will work closely with marine engineers, other naval architects, and designers to tackle engineering challenges. This role involves creating engineering drawings for both new construction and refit projects, managing projects, and ensuring compliance with class and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a team of marine engineers and designers.
- Engage in newbuild and refit designs for various vessel types.
- Create detailed engineering drawings.
- Manage project scopes, schedules, and client communications.
- Coordinate with technical vendors and attend project meetings.
- Oversee class and regulatory submittal, review, and approval processes.
- Perform travel and fieldwork, including working safely aboard ships and in shipyards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture.
- Knowledge of shipbuilding rules, regulations, and classification society and Coast Guard requirements.
- Proficiency in propulsion and steering design.
- Competency in AutoCAD and Rhino.
- Familiarity with AutoHydro (or GHS).
- Valid driver’s license, US passport, and TWIC card (or ability to obtain).
