Contemporaries is government contracting firm currently looking for a Lab Tech to join our client at the National Institutes of Health on a long-term contract. Fitting candidates should have at least 3 - 5 years of experience working as a Lab Tech and a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology or related studies.  

Duties: 

• Handles RNA and DNA samples and processes a variety of sample types for genomic profiling. 
• Execute DNA/RNA profiling workflows for short-read and long-read sequencing, DNA/RNA quality assessment. 
• Operate sequencers, other smaller lab instrumentation. 
• Maintains lab equipment and the training of others in their use. 
• Initiates schedule instrumentation maintenance, calibration and when needed. 
• Maintain organized lab inventory, create project record, complete accurate record keeping through electronic lab note management. 
• Maintain effective communication with client labs regarding sample submission and processing. 
• Mentors junior level scientists on instrument handling and good lab practices. 

Profile: 

• Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology or related subjects. 
• Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience. 
• Experience managing DNA and RNA samples. 
• Experience managing lab equipment and facilities. 
• Experience training/mentoring others in lab duties. 
• Single-Cell profiling workflows and Spatial genomic profiling workflows preferred.
