Payroll Tax Specialist Position!

Are you a detail-oriented professional with experience in multi-state payroll and tax compliance? We are seeking a skilled Payroll Tax Specialist to ensure accurate and timely deposits and returns for a high-volume, multi-state organization and its clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure timely deposits and filings for federal, state, and local tax liabilities across all jurisdictions.
• Review payroll records to ensure proper tax transactions and compliance with applicable laws.
• Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reconciliations; perform audits as needed.
• Conduct W-2 reconciliations and process corrections.
• Apply for and manage tax agent authorizations for federal and state liabilities.
• Investigate and resolve tax notices, penalties, and questionnaire requests.
• Collaborate with Accounting and Payroll Departments to resolve variances.
• Maintain accurate employer files within the company’s electronic records management system.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support cybersecurity policies and procedures in line with company guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in multi-state payroll and taxes.
• Basic understanding of payroll, employment tax, and accounting principles.
• Ability to interpret complex federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge of GAAP and tax compliance.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email; familiarity with relational databases.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
