Our Client, a Leading Law Firm in the financial district of San Francisco is in search of a Systems Engineer to join their team. This individual will work with a team of IT professionals in an environment where the turnover is low and many team members have been there for several years. They offer a hybrid work environment and require individuals to be on site at their San Francisco location two to three days a week. This is a technology forward Microsoft environment; past skills in an enterprise Microsoft environment essential, and past legal experience ideal. This is a full time direct hire opportunity with a full benefits package given by the law firm.
The Systems Engineer will help architect, administer and troubleshoot all IT systems along with the Senior Systems Administrator. The Systems Engineer will be expected to provide input on critical business decisions going forward. The Systems Engineer primary role is to administer Microsoft Active Directory and Windows environment across the enterprise. This includes traditional on-premises support for Active Directory (user and group management, Group Policy, DNS), Azure cloud infrastructure maintenance and build-out (networking, virtual machine management, backups, blob and file storage, Azure Active Directory and (SSO/SAML), and Windows 10/11/Server administration and troubleshooting
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers Azure Active Directory & Microsoft Active Directory.
- Administers and deploys resources that are essential to company operations in Azure's cloud infrastructure.
- Administers the Windows server as well as Windows 10 and 11 systems.
- Creates scripts and policies to support firm-owned devices
- Takes part in routine IT tasks and end-user assistance/support
- Manages the configuration, upkeep, updates, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of outdated hardware for real & virtual server environments.
- Strong VMware skills: Helps with host and VM administration and monitoring for the management of the on-premises VMware infrastructure.
- Aids in overseeing backup plans.
- Keeps an eye on alerts both during and after business hours, and takes necessary actions in a timely manner.
- Manages and improves documentation, including assessing current documentation, recording absent systems, procedures, and policies, and streamlining documentation using both current and new systems.
- Offers assistance with help desk escalation, such as advanced troubleshooting, locating and implementing fixes for challenging or recurrent hardware and software issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five + years’ experience in systems support, ideally in a law firm environment firm or in a professional environment ideal
- Experience as a Systems Engineer or Administrator at a law firm or in a professional environment ideal
- High School Diploma / GED Required; additional education / technical certifications in Microsoft Systems, VMWare or college or additional schooling preferred
- Strong to Expert Microsoft skills in an enterprise environment:
- Endpoint Management (Was Intune)
- MS 365 Defender Administration skills
- Office 365 Administration
- Exchange Online Administration
- Windows OS (Expert level)
- Strong Azure Skills
- Virtual Machine administration
- Experience with the migration of assets to Azure
- The willingness to learn the firm process with VMware and Azure Backup/SRM.
- Mobile Endpoint Administration (Intune)
- Defender Security Platform for Microsoft 365 (ATP)
- Proficiency in reading and writing PowerShell scripts
- Administration of Exchange Online is a plus.
- VPN skills, Client and Site to Site
- Experience with Meraki networking hardware or business networking hardware
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
- Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
- Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
